Car starts then shuts down???

When i start my car it rev's up to around 2500, judders for a second then shuts off displaying the battery light. But all electrics work?

Any ideas

Have you had anything done to the car recently? - service, ecu map, plugs etc?

MK5 GTI, Petrol, 6speed gearbox 54 plate

had a normal £220 ranked service but nothing was flagged up so im a little shocked. Also no warning light is flashing apart from the battery light after it has shut down

You say the electrics are working? I take it by that you can open and close the window and turn the radio on etc and there isnt any issues?

not the immobilser kicking in is it??

could be alternator or duff battery

yea electrics work fine. windows, radio and lights.

had a garage check the alternator and battery and he said it was fine.

I have no clue what to do?

have you tried the spare key?

If the chip in your key has broken, the car will start then shut off.

nah, just tried it, but the same problem. starts up, engine starts rumbling and shaking then shuts off 

i was so happy there for a moment. thanks for that idea though

actualy i lefted the bonnet earlier to have a listen and there is like a click sound that happens just before it shuts off, then a kind of electric buzzing noise that contines until i take the key out.

any ideas?
