My mate has a Bora tdi, and that is stupidly quick, and my other mate has a Diesel Ibiza cupra which is also crazy quick. Its all about torque in diesels

Hmm, I guess I will just wait and see what happens in a few months time. I will be doing spaceship miles in it, have done 13k since January :undecided: so a diesel would work out cheaper, and a GTI would lose its value alot quicker with the extra miles?

Thanks for your help :) I know the GTI is the better car, but it would be ruined very quickly :(

All depends what you want to do and what you can realisticly afford and / or what you want out the car. I did 16k miles in the MK5 last year . . .

I had MUCH more fun in those 16k miles in the GTI than I would have in an "average" diesel. I bet if you actually sit down and do the figures it doesnt actually work out THAT much more and for the extra cost Id rather have the nicer car. All this is imo.

Yes but when I came to re-sell it, the GTI with say 120k on the clock is going to be worth less that the TDI with 120k on the clock. Generally because a lot of diesels have high mileage :undecided:

Yes and No.

Any car with 120k on the clock isn't going to fetch decent money, diesel or petrol.

Well no, maybe not 120k but say 70k, i still think that the diesel would hold a bit more value :/ probably just my interpretation really! :embarassed:

don't forget the price of the pumps is much nearer now than its been recently

on average its now only 2 pence per litre between petrol and diesel coupled with the fact you'll travel at least 100 miles further on the same amount of fuel

DERV FTW

Sounds like your trying to talk yourself in a derv :undecided:

cos he knows it makes sense

I was wondering how long it would take you to get your nose in here :D

I actually pay more than the price of normal diesel :(. Filled up yesterday @ 1.10 for V-Power compared to 1.07 for regular diesel :(
