"Milking" on windscreen
« on: 16 June 2009, 08:55 »
I noticed a bit of "milking" on the bottom of my windscreen, showed it to the dealer who kindly fitted me a new screen. Good result especially when I had a chip the size of a 50p coin smack in the middle of the screen.

Check yours whilst under warrenty !

BTW got my Ed30 number through yesterday (913)

Not posted for ages, hope everyone is well and enjoying life.

Good result...........although I dont fully understand what you mean by 'milking'??
Do you mean the windscreen had a whitish haze on it at the bottom, so wasnt clear?

Yes, sorry,
I was trying to describe the white marks at the bottom of the screen to the dealer and he said "oh you mean it's milking".
I've seen it on loads of older cars where a white haze creeps up the screen as moisture gets inbetween the black and the screen and thought I best nip this in the bud.
Dealer said no problem I'll get you a new screen which made me think this may be a common problem.

All I get from my windscreen (mostly in winter or rain) is the part number print from the factory and suction marks from the sat nav of the previous owner. Mission to get out!
Never seen this milking tho!?

The "milking" is slow delamination of the screen and has been noticed on a few VW's. :nerd:

Yeah I've got a bit of milking around the bottom of my original screen. Not bad considering it's been in there for 23 years!

I have a little of this on my 05.  Out of warranty but if it starts to bug me there might have to be some some sort of accident to make the old screen dissapear...
