My 16v is hesitent when you put y food down and when trying to keep to the speed limit i.e 30mph it missfires and  is uncomfortable to drive. I know this is probably an ignition problem but where should i start. Should i just change everything i.e cap, rotor arm, ht leads and plugs? or should i do one by one till th e problem is solved.

Try the ECU relay first.

I had a similar problem and i tried everything, til i found this site and got the advice.

To check it - get the engine warm. Switch off and take out the relay, check manual for the right one, hold it to your cheek and if its warm then its o.k. If not get a new one, only about ?8 from dealer.

If this fails then it will be plugs/leads/cap&rotor next.

If this link works it will take ya back to my original thread.
If your problem is similar then dont muck about, just change the relay.

mine used to do this before the coil blew.

i also switched to optimax which seemed to help before the coil incident.
