clutch bitting point

hey,

just bought a mk2 golf driver 1.6. Happy with the car but the bitting point of the clutch is very high and i'm used to a very low bitting point which is much easier in my opinion. at the moment i have to lift my heel off the floor which is much more effort and what can i say but hey i'm lazy! is there any way of easily adjusting the bitting point any body? i know its had a new clutch sometime in the past.

if it has an auto adjust clutch cable then scrap it and get a manual adjustment one

tighten the cable if manual.
if not, put bigger shoes on so you dont have to lift the heel of it up - fill the fron't with cotton wool

You need to adjust the cable so you have about 1cm of free play at the pedal too!  Look in the engine bay if the cable has a load of springy clipy gubins attatched to it, its auto adjust so needs to be thrown in the bin and replaced with a manual one.

ive got a MK6 Golf 1.4 TSI 2009 and the clutch bite point is very high, do all the above comments apply to me aswell or is there anything different about my clutch if its a newer car? does anyone know how much a repair/replacement would cost?
