I've got a Mk3 1.9 TDi estate from 1995.
I ordered some powerflex bushes on Ebay.
On the box it says "Golf Mk2/3 rear beam bushes, set of 2".

They look too about 10mm too short to me:

Has anyone experienced this problem before?

The powerflex site doesn't give much help:

well, technically you should have the correct ones...they look like mk2 ones to me (which should be the same as mk3 4 studs)

however, i'm sure i remember chrisP saying that its actually pot luck with mk3 4 studs....some have mk2 bushes, some have mk3 5 stud style ones.

i'd say you need the plus axle ones

I've got the PFR85-207 bushes (5 wheel stud axle), even though I have a 4 stud axle.
Some use the PFR85-206 bushes.

Dimensions are
Dia 63mm x 32mm long
Dia 45mm x 55mm long
making a total length of 87mm.
The bracket has a gap that's 100mm long.

Hole down the middle is approx 11mm diameter.

Well, the answer to my question is yes.
The MK3 Estate has a different rear beam from the other types.
It uses bushes that are specific to the estate.
The 4 and 5 stud kits made by the poly bush suppliers will not fit.
