Same block, so the cooler should fit, BUT you need to keep the water-sandwich or you'll lose the early oil warm-up from that.
High oil temperature is a symptom, not a problem. What's your oil pressure on track?
If you're on the original waterpump and stat I would suggest you change them and the cambelt at the same time. The pump on my GU died at just over 100k. Change it - it's not worth killing your engine over.
If you're using the car on track a lot, consider getting a wide-band lambda mounted in the downpipe and a gauge in the car, to understand what your mixture is doing, especially at high-revs. It'd be a shame to lose the engine just because it's knocking at high revs and you're not hearing it.
