Take it you bought the car from an independent garage and not a VW dealer.

A place near me would charge £48 + vat per wheel to strip, paint, diamond cut and then laquer them, but i'm down the other end of the country.

The only thing to have to worry about is if there a huge gashes in them which has been filled with body filler or similar. They can be fixed but would need the filler removing, welding/filling the gashes, then running over with the diamond cut. Sometimes you can see an ever so slight variation in colour where they have been welded but you would have to look hard.

Welding would add to the refurb charge though.

Yeah it was Phoniex at Paisley i bought it from and they arent a Volkswagen dealer.

The saleman said that they should look similar, i didnt think too much at the time as i was getting a good set of wheels (18") and when i saw it when i was picking it up i thought the bastards had changed it to the 17" wheels :angry:


I'll just have to deal with it until i have a scuff on it and that gives me a reason to get themz repainted to the orginal way they were :smiley:

Have a drive out to ESP and see what they say....tbh we cant tell that much from your pic, fancy putting closer and better lit pics up to get an idea of how shabbily Pheonix have treated them?

They are most definitely 17s, I have 17s... the clue is the tyre wall
