Hot Tuning Coilovers Reviews Then
« on: 10 June 2009, 11:11 »
Ive seen that quite a few of the forum members have bought these coilovers as part of the trade deals, just wondering if those of you who bought them can take a few minutes to write a short review on your experience with them (if you get chance).
From delivery, fitting to actual ride quality and ease of adjustment. Basically all pros and cons - im sure this will be useful for others who may be considering buying them........Thanks people

p.s. alternative recommendations welcome too

Get what you pay for.

The adjuster rings are made out of cheese.

The ride is dog awful when you lower more than about 40mm.

But you do get to slam your ride for like £150.

Depends what you want, but after a year running them, i am upgrading to probably the entry level Weitec Coilovers.

I've been running them for 6 months now, I think they are fantastic for the money. I would buy them again if I had to, you can't go wrong for the price.

Yes they are bouncy, and adjusting them can be a pain but just make sure you grease the threads before they go on, and anytime you adjust them :)

I've had mine on since November.. Delivery was quick enough at the time

As people say, you get what you pay for. The ride is shockingly hard, the car is also bouncy which isn't a good combo. They're fitted easy enough, nothing out of the ordinary. Mine have lasted and aren't really showing any signs of failing at all, I can see what Mikester says about the rings being made of cheese, but saying that I haven't had any problems so far

Altogether if you want to lower your car, but don't care for ride quality, buy these.

Chap, there are only a few people that have given an opinion, wait for more lol! As I said, I'll be buying them again, you're never gonna get a GOOD ride unless you spend hundreds :(

I ran these on my old Passat Estate. Like others have said for the money they're not bad. Ride wasn't overly hard but the bouncyness over undulations at speed on motorways was a bit scary. I kept having images in my head of sump and tarmac meeting in an unholy marriage of disaster.

I dont mean that you shouldnt get them. Next step up from this is about aonther £100 for entry level FK's. They are not amazing but would be better.

But best to buy once, not twice.

As above, I also had problems with the car not being level, if I were going to use coilovers agian I would pay extra.
