Fuel Distributor issues
« on: 10 June 2009, 07:00 »
Hi all. I've seem to have exhausted methods to sort out misfiring issues on my 16v Gti running on K-jet. Changed distributor cap, rotor arm, leads, plugs, checked pipes.. My mechanic recently pinpointed that the issue could stem from the fuel distributor as the second line doesn't seem to be affected by the individual adjustment of the plunger (the hex key covered adjustment screw on the fuel distributor). Is that a possibility? Furthermore, he's advised me to source for a fuel distributor from an old Volvo 240 injection as it supposedly similar and can be replaced as such. What are your thoughts on this?

Cheers: J

have the injectors been tested, these can go wrong as well! all 4 should spray a nice even cone of fuel.

ok then that would point to the metering head if pressures have been checked and are correct, not sure about the volvo head but its plausable, I had a porsche 924 turbo one on mine for a while ;)

The volvo 240 distributor will fit and have seen it done, it is a slighty better fuel delivery pressure but I would stick with the correct one.

Thanks guys.Guess I will have my 16 valver checked in for the metering head transplant. Have to try out the volvo unit as there aren't many VW's around in my area (Malaysia). There shouldn't be more than 80 units of Mk2s in total thus parts are really hard to come by.

Check the bosch number on yours, it is a commonish unit to be honest.

Hi All. Just to confirm that the issues have been sorted with the new fuel distributor (Volvo 240 part). Thanks and Cheers!
