lowering springs
« on: 09 June 2009, 20:36 »
Hi, I'm a novice looking to lower my mk2 gti. I plan to put 16" wheels on it. Can you recommend whether to use lowering springs or get adjustable shocks? Also if I decide to go with springs can you recommend which size to get - I don't want it scraping the floor but enough to notice the drop.

Thanks a lot

I would run coilovers, at least you can pick the height you want.

If ya aint got the moolah to be buying coilovers, ive got 50mm drop springs on mine and sits nice and low but still never scrapes, nice n cheap and still keeps up with newer cars round bends!

I had lowering springs with 15's and they were alright but would rub on the tyres if I had a fat lass in the car

Upgraded to Hottuning Coilovers about 2 months ago and now the car sits perfect. No more rubbing and a better ride too.

I got mine from ebay but if you check the special discount section of this site they have a deal with Hottuning so I recommend you do that if you've got the benjamin.
