Is £800 enough for a tidy GTI?
« on: 09 June 2009, 17:04 »
Hey guys,

Looking for a MK3 GTI next month, possibly the 8v one. Is £800 enough to get my a tidy one?
Autotrader has a few but first ill ask here to see if £800 is a bit too cheap? Hope not tho lol.

Bear in mind that i'll probably be going for a £900+ one & haggling down to £800, hopefully.

Cheers people.

Depends whos selling it, if its a gargage now chance of geting a tidy one with low(ish) miles for that, but find a private seller and 800 would be resonable

I payed £900 for my golf 8v P Reg gti 5door in black with 57,000 miles with only 2 previous owners (lady 1st) and a soldier (my mate) who never drove it as he was on duty in afghan, 6 Months Tax and Full Year MOT the day i bought it. I also knew the owner.. I've never spent a pound on it yet. had it 8months now. I thought it was a bargain, and was told it was by lots of people.

I'm sure if you look around u'll find a nice one, but dont rush into it and have a ruddy good luck at it b4 u hand over the coin :)

Go for a 16 valve if you can find one matey, more power and the same brake setup as the VR6

& insurance is exactly the same as the 8v from what the quotes i've been getting. Would love the 16v but not many about for my price range. I'll keep an eye open tho. Cheers.
