Turned into a lame thread really.
Fact I have changed my MKV GTI for a MK6 GTI

Why probs because I felt like a change bored of the same car, However I loved the GTI so logical step was to mix it up to a MKVI which when i drove I really enjoyed.

Am I bothered ive lost £12k in 2years on My MkV, yes obviously.

Do i think im getting a worse car for my money? No I think im paying for an upgraded mkV, Obviously the car is based on the same MKV platform. However its been more refined, Basically taking off from where the MKV left off. Tweaking slightly little area's for improvement and thus is a better car.

Am i aware im being ripped off over the price of the car? Yes obviously the GTI is expensive for what it is. Essentially I could buy myself an FQ-300 or S3 for similar money with much greater performence. However im still 22 and ill have plenty of time for those cars in the future.

Would I recommend swapping a MKV for a MKVI? Prolly not at the moment there's just not enough good changes to warrent the £15,000 quid extra im having to put up. Having said that however if money isn't really an issue the MKVI is a better car and put it this way.
If money wasn't an issue for you guys and you had both sitting there outside which one would you ride out that morning in? I think it'de be the MKVI for me anyway hence why ive bought one. MkV's are currently common as dogsh!t imo. I see upwards of 15 everyday I think. Call me a snob or w/e Im almost sure im from poorer backgrounds then most trolling these boards.

Glad to hear of someone who has changed (or should I say upgraded  ) instead of a slagging match.  Gotta admit I was so close to putting an order in at the weekend for the mk6 before I had second thoughts.  Still a bit more thinking to do.

VWKev, an upgrade means moving to something better. Moving to the next evolution of a model may or may not be an upgrade, it all depends on what you are moving from and how superior (or not) the new model you are moving to is.

Perfect example is a MKII 16v GTI to a MKIII GTI. VW lost the plot a little there and went for a different demographic.

Oh and for the record - for me I'd say that yes, the standard MKVI GTI is better than the standard MKV GTI in standard spec.

Would I be tempted by a standard MKVI GTI - NO!

Would I be tempted by the Golf R20 (if it gets 4wd and a TFSI engine) - most likely!

But I would probably keep the ED30 and turn it into a track car.

There were cars from several dealers parked in the centre of Bristol on Saturday. Saw the mk6 gti and thought it did actually look quite good though I just can't get past the red lines on the front grill. For some reason it doesn't look as good as the front grill of the mk5. Maybe thats being a bit picky though.

So you don't like the mk6 grill cause its got one more red line on the grill compared to the mk5 ?
