Will these fit?
« on: 08 June 2009, 09:04 »
Currently got Dunlop SP 225/45 ZR17 91W on 17" Monza wheels.

These look very good value for money, but as far as I can see only the load rating and speed index differ?

What does the XL and the TL mean?

XL is extra load and is the type of tyre you should go for with the GTI as it is what they supply from the factory.

??TL?? :undecided:

LT is for light trucks though.

Well, I've ordered the Vredesteins, looking forward to getting them fitted. Hoping for an improvement over the Dunlops I currently run on.

Does anyone know the OEM tyre on the 18" Monzas?

I'm currently running Michelin PS2's up front and Dunlop Sport Maxx's on the rear.

The Michelins seem very good but will need replacing fairly soon and they are expensive. I was thinking about changing to Conti's.

I have Conti Sport Contact 3's on my Edition 30 and I'm happy enough with them. The fronts last about 15K miles and the rears will last about 30K and seem to generate reasonable grip.

My GTI came with Dunlop's from the factory.

Good call

I have them on my Team Dynamics Pro race 1.2's and they are very good.

I'm running the Dunlop SportMaxx's on the rear to hard to tell how good they really are but they do stick out from the rim slightly which offers a small amount of kerbing protection.

The cheapest I can find the Michelins for is £200 each, whereas I can get the Dunlops for about £120 which is a big saving.

Generally speaking I prefer to stick with the OEM tyre.
