Hi Guys,

recently got the clutch chaneged to:

a week later i noticed some slippage in the higher revs...
Anyway, yesterday took the car to mechanics and changed the pushrod, lever and clutch bearing, also got a new manual adjust clutch cable for good measure..

I went for a cuppa and when i got back, the mechanic said there was still too much play on the clutch arm (before cable went on).
I am bamboozled as to what is creating this "gap" and am running out of ideas

Or is this normal i.e to have play on the clutch arm at the gearbox end?

Only thing i can think of at present is damage to the flywheel maybe?

to add insult, the dude put my car on the lifters without lifting the plastic jackpoints and has ruined my trim!!

Not a happy chappy..your input would be much appreciated

That one line there sums up your choice of garage, if they used the actual jacking point rather than the sill itself, you should never have a problem of the trim damage.

maybe the clutch actuating arm is bent ??

if they jacked your car wrongly SLAP them !!!!

i would be PISSED

yeah tell me about it, pissed is not the word to describe me...

Gonna see what monday brings, only used this new place because they came highly recommended etc and my usual mechanic has chosen to close business!

For future, if anyone can recommend some1 in west london that would be much appreciated?

Hi John, could you kindly elaborate?
I did compare the old pushrod to the new item, identical apart from the wear on the old one (slightly tapered at the edge)..

I suspect it might be the seal that may have let oil through, but can not confirm this....
Just rang the workshop and they are taking the gearbox off, if the above is true,im guessing the clutch can not be re-used?

Just spoke to garage, the rookies did not change the seal and oil went in!!

A waste of a brand new clutch!?
