Best driving route in UK
« on: 06 June 2009, 11:42 »
Hey guys!

I often drive my baby out merely for fun. I believe most of you have been doing the same thing all year long. So why don't you list some driving routes in UK which you think are the best for a GTI? Just for sharing!

Please use the similar format as I do so everyone could browse it easily:

Region: Northumberland
Route: Follow A1 Northbound, take the exit to A697, switch to B6344 to the west at Weldon, all the way to Rothbury
Features: Narrow but even road, lots of bends and sharp corners, villages, rivers and forest.
Length: Roughly 14 Miles
Notes: At Rothbury, if you find youself not quite in the mood for going back, you could soldier on to the west into the Northumberland National Park

CBA'd to go to the effort you did but the Evo Triangle is supposed to be a very good drive.

On the VW site there used to bit a bit where people could enter good driving routes, it was when they had that night driving advert for the Golf on TV. Not sure if they still have it though.

You've been so lucky to live in that area you know. I've only been to Lake Distrct once and have tasted the notorious driving route A591. It was magnificent ! So as those narrow rural roads around it!

Tbh i don't really get chance to go up there much atm, because im at uni in the midlands, but can't wait to take my valver up there.  Hasn't seen home yet, cause i bought it just recently.  Fun times.  Also worth a blast when its dark, slightly more fun, and cause i know the roads well its not a death trip lol

Congratulations for your new machine and hope you will have fun with it! It reminds me of the days when I just got mine - ceaseless test drive day and night!

I'm located in Northeast and don't have much chance to bark down (been to London twice by M1 but you can't really call the time on the motorways as proper driving, can you?). Wales is the place I always wanted to go !

Thanks for the new motor congrats :)

Gotta say ive had to take it out every night, even just for a lil spin.  Its got a bloody annoying ticking atm, and i haven't had time to look at it (cause of exams and crap) so its actually not fun to drive.  Should have it sorted within the next few weeks though, then its play time.
