Very low mk4 & tracking
« on: 05 June 2009, 22:28 »
Quick question for you guys with seriously lowered mk4's.  Where did you get your tracking done?  I got mine lowered by a friend of mine on Raceland coilovers , but upon removing the standard suspension found it had a snapped spring on the n/s front so after fitting the coilovers the tracking was way out and my steering wheel is now turned slightly to the right when going straight ahead, I have been to all the usual suspects Kwik Fit etc. to get the tracking sorted but they all say its to low for them to do. Anybody have any ideas I'm in Newcastle Upon Tyne by the way. Dont really want to raise it as its at a nice height as it is but I'm resigning myself to having to as its really annoying the way it is.

Heres a pic of the height

Cheers

Thanks DrewiD, there must be some where that can align cars this low, theres plenty of cars around even lower than mine and I'm assuming they have all had there tracking done somewhere so it must be possible, I only get time one day a week to get to garages etc. and am really hoping to get it done tomorrow as I can't handle another week the way it is.

Cheers Patch to be honest Im starting to think the people at the places I have been to have just been fobbing me off and can't be bothered to do it as it's not that low I should be able to get it on the ramps no probs as I can get it up on to the curb at my parents house (usually take it there to clean it) with out any trouble just taking it slow they have all told me that they wont be able to get the clamps on the wheels, as they are to close to the top of the arches.

Bit further afield than I wanted to go tbh mate ,don't think I would want to drive that far they way it is at the minute only been driving it when I have really needed to until I get it sorted , at least I know its possible there must be somewhere in the North East that can do it

My old van i had was low and place i took it to said they cant do it but take it to there other branch which is local and that was just because they could not be arsed to do it.all they done was jack up van so wheels raise and then fitted the tracking machine and lowered it back down slow so it didnt catch arches so it can be done

Well after trying about 6 places over the last week, I found 2 that would do it the local performance centre Revolution but I would have to make an appointment there and couldn't get seen until Monday which was no good as I will be at work, he did say he may have a cancellation this afternoon but I couldn't risk having to wait another week until my next day off work so I decided to try some of the smaller local workshops.  First one I went to said yea no probs, they done exactly what turbo.jon mentioned they struggled getting the jack on the ramp to move along to the jacking points but other than that no problems at all feels like a totally different car its great and all for £15 lol.
