Hi,

Just got a Mk5 GTI 55 Plate, 22,000 Mils, Over the moon with it.

BUT!!!

I got this annoying loud rattle all the time, sounds like from drives side, behind speedo somewhere. I ahve checked and tightened the loose scre and washer under the fusebox cover, and i have no rattle from my centre vent.

Where Else?

Also have a creak sound from under car now and again when i pull away or brake?

i have an annoying creak from centre dash to tunnel as when i'm driving and apply pressure to the centre tunnel where the knee rest, it's reduced in noise

i hope to get this sorted soon

Try the steering column housing! adjust it up and down and see if that shifts it. But mine had to be reset! sounded like the window at first.

Mines intermittent depends on the road your driving on......Could go days without it being there. Sounds metallic to me. I have checked the screws and washers at the end of the dash by the fuse housing to see if it was them also.

It could be this. Although this pic is from a left hander and is on the passenger side, the same noise could be from the drivers side. It might sound like it's coming from behind the speedo but it might not be.

The creak under the car could be just about anything, but the two main usual suspects are the cat housing and the ARB's

I had a knocking under the car and it turned out to be the exhaust slightly out of line and it was knocking on one of the brackets.
