Induction kit dangerous?
« on: 02 June 2009, 18:06 »
Hi guys i am new around here and just bought a Golf 1.8turbo.

I have got an induction kit on it that has a big chrome pipe running past the battery and down into the bumper... came with the car.

Can anyone tell me what it is exactly and also can it suck in water down there?

A lot of people that have them say there is never a problem and never seem to understand why people think its dangerous., Iv never been a fan due to the horror stories I have heard of people sucking up water and totally f**king their engine up.

There are plenty of other induction kits out there that you can run without the risk.

you could argue this all day if you wanted to!
my personal preferance is oem airbox with panel filter then a decent cold feed to the airbox (again many ways to do this too)....

Well i would like something that wont suck up water but is not subject to engine heat?

Maybe a filter in a housing with a cold air feed.

I might do the OEM box with panel filter but will need to buy a whole new box as i bought the golf with the aftermarket system on it.... how do i smoothe the airbox if i do this.
