vr6 help wanted!
« on: 01 June 2009, 23:47 »
Ok today i just bought a vr6 with a MISSFIRE, now i got it home and noticed the airfilter box wasnt fitted properly, so removed it all and modded a old airfilter i had in the shed from a fto to fit the golf, now this has fixed just about all the missfiring... but its still doing it in the first 1000 revs, now the throtal body has like oil in it so shall i clean this out? now the golf seems to go pretty fast but dont think its doing it how it should? any other ideas?

Cheers

Agreed and also scan for codes. Also inspect the coil for cracks as this is a common problem on vr's.

Was the air filter you "modified smaller". the reason its not ok at idle 1000 revs may be due to it not getting enough air.

New air filters for the propper VR6 boxes are only a few quid mate.
