Hey guys, hoping you guys might be able to point something out to me that might be obvious to you, but not me!
I have just completely rebuilt the engine with another 2l bottom end as the 2E block i had last, made short work of the piston rings - turned out to be cheaper for a new block than to actually replace these. All good on that part. It has has been faultless right up until the very last part!
I have fitted a new rocker cover gasket (the new rubber ones not the cork). Tightened it down starting from the bolts in the middle and working my way out.
As soon as it got hot after about 3 mins of sitting at idle there is smoke coming from just above the exhaust manifold.
On closer inspection, oil had been pooling on the top of the inlet manifold, dripping down onto the exhaust manifold and causing a nice bit of smoke and a nasty smell..
Today i have refitted it, but this time sealed it with an instant gasket which seemed to solve the issue for about an hour or so, but has now sprung a leak.
Do you guys think the oil could be coming from some where else? I cant think that the seal that i have just made with the gasket is leaking as it was given pretty generously! The only thing i can see is the fuel rail, but that would see more flames rather than smoke if those were leaking!
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
luke
