Mk3 16v belt noise problem

Hi my ABF lump has been making a whooshing belt noise for ages, i changed the cam belt and tensioner 6 months ago but it never went away. It dos not seem to be fouling on the case so i'm not sure whats causing it...any ideas?

There is a good trick to finding out where its comming from,  Use a can of WD40,  run the engine and spray it on the belts (DO NOT SPRAY THE CAM BELT THOUGH!!!)

Spray the aux belt and power steering,  it should stop instantly,  if not, probably is the cambelt... mabey even a bearing.   WD40 wont keep the noise away but its good for finding whats causing it.

my 8v has that kind of sound also... maybe not so servere but its worse when first starting car but then quietens down when its warm.... any ideas what it could be? hmmm my cam belt was done november 05.. sit should be ok i hope

should be done every 4yrs regardless of milage

for peace of mind just get it changed
