Need some work done - How hard is it?

I need too fit some coilovers on my mk2 gti 8v and was wondering how hard it is. I have never done any work on cars before.
Also there is a wheel bearing that needs replacing.

I understand that once the coilies are fitted i will need to get the camber and set up done professionally etc.

Fitting the coilovers is very straight forward...was one of the first proper jobs i ever did on my car too. I was going to create a quide for doing this when i put mine on but lost almost all the pics afterwards.

As for the wheel bearing im not sure but def have a go at the sus yourself.

Rear bearings are easy fronts are pressed in. Only trouble I had when fitting my coilovers is getting the nut off the front suspension. The one in the top mount.  Get new top mounts too

Fitting coilovers isn't hard for the average DIY mechanic. But for someone who has never picked up a spanner, I'd pay someone(off here) to do your coilies. If you get it wrong, you could end up trashing your or someone else's car. IMO, you'd be better off starting off on something easier, oil&filter or something. No disrespect meant here btw!

Coilovers! If I can do it then trust me anyone can. Just need the tools, Chuff advised on the 24v torque gun but I had the tools loaned to me. I can help if local fella!

Suspension is a joke to fit - it would definitely be the easiest thing to start with if you hadn't picked up a spanner.

It is 3 bolts to remove.

7 per side actually 

Trouble is if you have no tools to start with, no (decent!) jack, no axle stands, no socket set, no spanners, no allan keys and most important no experience its both an expensive and daunting way to start your mechanicing career which will probably result in some ridiculous camber and toe angles (a friend recently fitted some and there was 50mm between the top of the rim and the bottom!! Now thats what I call camber lol), the probability of it not coming off the jack because you set the ride height too low to start with, pushing the jacking points up into the chassis etc etc.

If youve never done this sort of thing before, get someone with experience to help you, it is a really easy job but thats easy to say with experience behind you lol.

oh and i have removed both front struts in a t break before - 15 minutes including jacking up and removing the wheels
