The search continues...

Still looking, any idea's where else too look, searched ebay, pistonheads, autotrader, here, mk5golfgti.co.uk to the point where it's all burnt into my retina's  with no luck, just wondering if i've missed somewhere where that perfect golf could be lurking?

Keep your eye out for me for a well specced golf please

Basic spec i'm looking for is: 3dr in white/black/red/grey (preference in that order) with xenons and monza 2's, and ideally leather. Will consider cloth if the spec is high. Max budget £12k so realistically 05/55 reg.

Quick question please

Is there only one shade of red? Some look pink others look  also are black one's metallic? Quite fancy a flat colour this time, mettalic show's all the marks you see

Cheers, Sam

Just had a quick look on Autotrader - there's none out there with Xenons, and they really seem to have rocketed up in price.... I could make a tidy profit on mine :D

Keep looking is the only advice, you'll find a gem at some point believe me!

Your MK4 looks quite modified, qhy do you want Monza IIs?

Every set of Monza II's I saw were in need of a good refurb due to corrosion, so I settled for the 17s.

I have to say, they're a lot comfier and the car is faster on them.  Plus they're flat silver so they don't corrode...great for winter wheels ;)

Cheers for looking mate, see what I mean about the prices!

Has too be 3 door this time, got a 5 door now so want a change! if it was a 3 door i'd already have it outside my house

Quite hard to gauge where the market is going, from what i've seen the expensive one's still aren't selling so either the buyers know there are bargins to be had or the sellers are trying it on. I'm just worried the market will pick up to a point where I can't afford a spec I like, if thats the case I would have to consider an audi a3 s-line i suppose

There was an 06 fully loaded on pistonheads and he was trying for £14k!

Good point and in all fairness they aren't essential, but it will remain standard on the outside for a while so don't want to be running round on some wheels which don't do the car any justice, no offense to all you 17 users... BBS CH's will be replacing whatever it's got when funds permit.

There's only one shade of red that I've seen, are you talking about seeing more than one shade of red in the flesh or in pics? My profile pic looks dayglo orange LOL but in reality is a strong red. It's to do with the camera and the light conditions. Mine was taken with an iPhone but I'll pop up one or two others taken by a proper camera (different wheels then though), but you'll get the idea.

Let the fun begin........Red Gti, full colour coding, DSG, Xenons, Winter pack, Lux pack, Highline, Sat Nav, Sunroof, Leather, Milltek, ABT rear valance, Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics....pescaras :-)

One word of warning if you are looking for a flat colour is that they seem to be much more prone to chip marks than metallics.  IIRC metallics have a really hard clearcoat over the paint whereas the solid colours have the clearcoat and pigment combined and doesn't seem as hardy.

If you've got your heart set on a colour then its not worth changing your mind about it because of this but its worth bareing in mind when you go to look at cars.

Yep...I'm very happy with my 17s

I was initially disappointed when I found out the car I was buying didnt have 18s, now I am glad. I have yet to see a set of Monza 18s on a second hand Golf that are anything but shoddy... and I think they are a bit too big for the car. But thats personal opinion :)

What they are up for and what they go for are two different things... I overpriced my previous car as I thought it was worth more than it was, most are doing the same. I would say be patient, it took me nearly 18 months to find my previous car as I wanted a definitive spec!
