beginning to wonder- 1.8t power
« on: 24 May 2009, 22:17 »
i have had my 1.8t for a couple of weeks now and i am beginning to wonder if its down on power.
after driving my mk3 16v for a while then jumping into the 1.8t, it just dont seem any more powerful.. maybe it needs to be driven differently. my mk3 would go well but you had to get the revs up to get it to move. but the 1.8t seems to have plenty low down grunt but then when the revs are up theres not much pull..
i know the 16v and 1.8t are both 150bhp standard but they both feel so different.
i am new to turbo charged cars so that may have something to do with it.????...

they're not exactly what you'd call a "rapid" car standard so don't worry mate, there's probably nothing wrong with it

If you're really bothered, get a fault code reader or something, to see if there's any faults.

1.8Ts are just dosile cars really, if it had that power without the turbo, it'd go like a rocket like my Mk2 GTi did.
80% of your posts are total tripe, as they are mostly replies to sh1te posts created by the morons that, unfortunately this forum attracts.

Or speak to Nick at R-Tech and get it booked in for a remap
I often wonder why people never expect sarcastic comments from me - they're the only reason I speak...

yeah bog standard the Turbo's dont exactly leave you feeling liek your in a turbo car, once Nick and Ben give you a stage 1  that all changes really shifts and got more pull through out the rev range, well worth while!!

i have been left wondering, if its worth just getting a remap, or saving my pennies and getting a ko3s first before hand?.

All depends what you want, if your lookign for bigger power in the long run then mabe gettign a ko3s would be worth while but the map itself will be the biggest change over changing the turbo you will be smiling trust me i was

remap will improve things but the KO3 can only handle and maintain so much boost.  a KO3s will help help maintain the power and boost further up the rev range.  Ivor's car is a very good example of an KO3s AGU :afro:
