hi everyone can someone tell me the proper way to check my oil, i asked vw they told me to run the car for 10 mins turn it off to 5 mins then check it is this right thanks for your time

Hmmm.....Ive always checked mine before a journey - before I switch the engine on, so its completely cold.
Then again, I never fill it right up to the max mark, I always ensure it is in the middle.

I check mine when it's cold.
The only reason to run it for ten minutes is after an oil change.

I say when its warm and leave is a couple of minutes to let the oil drain back in the sump. That way if you fill it up to maximum you know thats the real maximum and it won't expand any further...

If you have run it leave it for 5-10mins.
