Rev counter dies when driving

My rev counter dies after a short time driving but then starts workin after a few miles and this happens on and off all the time could this be a loose connection or is it a common problem

Gotta be a fault somewhere. Would have to check the wiring diagram. But check for any obvious ones first.

Mine has starting doing that ever since I took the dials out and dismantled them to change the MFA LCD. I suspect its a loose connection on the circuit board on the back of the dials, just haven't got round to pulling them out again.
