Phillips Bulbs....
« on: 22 May 2009, 17:45 »
Im looking to buy these....

http://www.powerbulbs.com/product_detail.asp?prod=81

Are they the correct type etc for my MK5 ED30?
Is it an easy job to replace the bulbs??

Also, I'll be using the forum discount, and I'll get the sidelight bulbs as well - is there a step by step guide on fitting them?
Im a noob when it comes to this stuff so the easier the guide the better!!

Yeah thats the right ones.

The dipped ones are piss easy, you just turn and pull on the cover, you will see when you come to replace. The side ones are a different matter, they are REALLY hard to pull out, so hard that I ended up using some pliers as my fingers almost drew blood. As soon as I used pliers they came out easy so use them in the first place and save your fingers.

The dipped ones are the ones on the inside, right?
So its the ones on the outside that I just pull, using pliers, and do not turn before I pull out?

No the dipped are the ones on the outside that you jsut screw the back to get access and then pull them out. The side ones have a rubber cover over them which is simple to take off, its the bit when you try and pull the bulb out thats tricky and required the use of pliers for me.

How much difference is there between these and the output of a HID kit, say 6000k output?

I disagree. The sidelights fit into a pocket in the main beam.
