Insurance.........that time of year
« on: 11 August 2004, 11:38 »
Hey people,

Doing that dreaded task of getting insurance quotes. Have tried bugger loads and just wanted to know if you lot can suggest any others that are fullfill the following criteria:

1) Nice and cheap
2) Don't rip you off for minor changes once they have your business

Have tried the following:

Endsleigh
Dial direct
aquote
admiral
norwich union (quote me unhappy)
elephant (sized premium)
tesco (every little [extra premium] helps [them])
quoteline direct
adrian flux
churchill (give the dog an arm and a leg)
AA (arse holes annomous)
more (money) than (most)
privilege( bend over, you've had the privilege)

direct line ( Best so far !!)

cheers people,

Darren.

direct line and privilege shouldn't be much different.. neither should tesco's.. same underwriters... they don't like mods tho.

i'm with them (priv) right now.. but i'm gonna shop around when my renewal is due (september)

I've always ended up with A-plan after quote shopping. They will always undercut the cheapest quote. Most averaged around the ?300 mark, but they came in at ?250 this year.

I don't own this anymore - I just can't be arsed to change the picture

confused.com wouldve searched most of those and a few more for you all in one go, admiral always seems to be about 50 quid cheaper than directline for me. i was shocked that churchill were offering the cheapest renewal for me for next year... when they were asking for ?1000 more than my current insurer when i asked for a quote last year !

Just renewed mine last week after checking confused.com and a couple of others, I went with Brentace in the end after looking at the thread in the Good Guys section and they were the cheapest I could find, ring them on 01792 650933. Kerry and John down there are pretty good and they will even allow me to lower mine and stick a Powerflow exhaust for no extra cost.  :)
......now officially dubless.

tophuh, are you declaring all mods on your insurance?

getting quotes for the rallye at the moment. best is 560 (7yrs ncb, protected with all mods covered) from adrian flux

the new Golf+/HIC one looks really good in that it is guaranteed value/salvage retention/track day cover etc all included. spoke to a dead helpful bloke and had high hopes for a good premium. they came up with 1200! reckon my car came out as 44 on a scale to 50 of risk  :o
