Rear High Line Brake light (Condensation) - Told them to inspect and record it on the system to replace in the future as you guys said its a spoiler off job. They fixed it! basically carefully braking the old one out and fitting the new one! Good job. 

Thats interesting news.  I had a suspicion that it could be done this way.  One day soon I'm going to have a go at this myself.  Nothing ventured and all that...

I asked only for the rear light to be inspected and recorded on their database for the future replacement when the light broke. Though even though they are meant to replace the spoiler, the carefully break old and replace with new has done the trick, no scratches / damage to spoiler.

Just ask your dealer to do it this way.

I suspect my dealer is going to want to do it by the book (the expensive way).  In your case they were motivated to do it the cheaper way as it was going to be less monies out of their pocket.  They seemed pretty adament that it couldn't be done any other way when I went in before.

In my case it was warranty work so they would prefer the cheaper way I suppose. Your other option is to just buy the part from VW and carefully remove the old one yourself.
