Hmmm, could be using the ED30 engine, but could be using the new TSI engine with uprated internals and the K04. :undecided:

From the Autocar article:-

"The new range-topping Scirocco’s engine is a modified version of the last Golf GTI’s EA113 2.0-litre with direct injection; the latest GTI uses the EA888 2.0-litre. It has a higher compression ratio than the GTI’s engine and was chosen because it’s easier (and cheaper) to modify than the newer powerplant."

Does that mean that the MKVI GTI engine is not as tuneable then?  :smug:

Quite possibly, but I wouldn't like to take bets on it. VW are notorious fro underselling the tuning capabilities of their motors.

Audi S3 engine in this RoccoR, good for 350 horses.

Interior is I guess standard Golf V with changed dials and seats. I doubt they changed much from standard Rocco.

Wheels look great! Anyway, with those huge arches anything below 19s looks ridiculously small.

FINALLY, good breaks! Not laughable 312mm front disks as on Edition 30.

Very nice looking twin exhaust pipes. Not like those ugly twins on new GTI, which also stick out too much (just like on Volvo S40 T5).

I've seen new GTI in silver. All I can say is that I look after MkV when they drive by, but not after MkVI. Nothing special about new GTI.

Very nice looking Scirocco R, yes sir! I wish it were BWD though, yes, BWD.

I put my deposit down for one on Saturday

Since my insurance claim for my written off ED30 is going nowhere fast, I thought having 5 months to wait wouldnt be a problem!  My deposit is fully refundable, so once the official spec / price is announced I can say yes or no.  Now I have to twiddle my thumbs for the next few months until I get the price / options list!

I test drove a MK6 GTI and then a Scirocco 140 diesel.  The MK6 was really just for a shot of a DSG car... which is a box I will definately tick this time!  The Scirocco was more for the point of size / comfort as I wanted to make sure it was big enough.  After trying my golf clubs, snowboard, and a variety of suitcases successfully I knew it'd be ideal.
I've test driven the S3 a few times lately and thought it was great - but I don't think it looks that nice.  Plus, the general opinion is that a new model will be out next year.  I think the Scirocco R is stunning looking, and will hopefully be the same price / cheaper than the S3.

Now I'm keeping my eyes peeled on the Scirocco sites, hoping that they have more pictures and updates coming soon!
Golf R... 3 door, DSG, Leather, Reflex Silver, Black 19" Talladega Wheels, ACC, Parking Sensors, RNS510 with Dynaudio, Reverse Camera, Luxury Pack, Cruise Control & Fiscon Bluetooth.
