given the way VW secure the hoses, there isn't really a better way, in theory it works well, but the bit that stick out wear and the clips can fracture.

you need some sort of compression joint, like you would use in plumbing

in an ideal world i'd get the Allard EGR delete pipe as you can then slide the hose straight over the pipe as it does away with the stupid clip

although your idea of a compression fitting would be quite good

thats what pisses me off even more!! £160 for a brand one EGR that doen't even do anything!!

you can't just blank it off? You can get the covers for them on ebay for about £4, or am I missing the point

missing the point mate - the housing smashed which menat the lugs on the hose couldn't be secured in place

only took you a couple of hours to find this - typical slow MK2 owner    still didn't up on the back of a truck remember or needing the AA or RAC

car was still driveable so not technically a breakdown    i've had the hoses pop off before but this time all that torque smashed the EGR housing - fecking stupid clip system
