MK3 newbie
« on: 15 May 2009, 16:54 »
Just thought i'd say hi, I've actually owned my MK3 convertible for a couple of years but have only recently started using the car as my daily driver. Originally I bought it to sell on at a profit but I became more and more attached to it and when the lease expired on my Vauxhall Astra and it went back, I decided to put the Golf on the road and despite having been laid up for nearly 2 years it went straight through the MOT with only a couple of advisories.
A bit about the car it is a 1995 N 2.0 auto Avantgarde model in metalic purple sort of colour (not sure of the exact colour name) with black leather interior and only 77,000 miles from new with full VW service history and barely a mark on it. It came with loads of receipts, one of which was for a new roof the year before I got it although it is not fabric roof (not sure if it would have originally had one)
It did have a problem with cutting out and not starting again when it was hot, this was fixed fairly easily with a new ignition relay and coolant sensor, I've heard this is common. It also now has a problem with the auto box not changing up into the top gear which I'm waiting a part from my local autobox specialist, hopefully this will sort that and it's ready for summer. I live in Hove, Sussex so I'm hoping to get plenty of use out it.
Sorry for rabbiting on, all the best.

Welcome Dave!

You should be able to find the paintcode somewhere on the car, usually in the boot on a sticker.
Will be LCL5 or something like that!
Then look in the Paint code section in Cosmetics.
