lights left on - warning buzzer!?!

not one fitted, but diy is easy hook it up the lights and the other end to a door contact.

I need one of these!
Left side lights on yesterday evening while on a job, came out @ 8.30......doh! Dead. 
Took RAC 1.75 hrs to get to me, did test, battery <1%, then tried to flog me a new one for £80.....?
All I wanted was a jump start, took 15min to do tests and paperwork.
Too used to modern cars I guess?
