g60 discs on a mk1
« on: 08 July 2003, 16:42 »
couple of years ago i bought a pair of spacer brackets to fit G60 discs to a mk1 using the standard calipers.
now i have finally got round to fitting them, problem is they move the caliper too far back so that one of the pads will no longer fit in.
the spacer plates are totally flat (there's no step to make up the distance) the same as any other that i have seen at inters.
am i missing something here? has anyone fitted a TSR kit? what do those brackets look like? ???

No the hubs are different, even the early mark 2 golfs (before '89/90) need to have the hubs and bottom ball joints changed to fit the G60 hubs. Your best bet would be to fit audi coupe caliper carriers and 16V calipers and discs as this would upgrade you to 256mm over your present 239mm and as david dikinson would put it. it  would be "cheap as chips"
