I heard that in derestricted form, those 35d engines will slay the current crop of M cars! One of my customers is very proud that his 535d is an M5 killer Very nice motor, if space in my street wasn't tight I'd have one as my next motor too.
Quote from: ifti on 13 May 2009, 18:08Isnt the 335d as costly to drive as the GTI though??What kind of MPG do you get?Ok....well its hard to say as I've only had the car 24hrs. And lets be honest, this first 24-48 hrs of having a new motor aren't gonna be a fair benchmark as normally your wragging the tits of it....However, saying that...I have done some real cruising today to and from meetings around Manchester. And I was averaging about 42mpg. Not driving miss daisy, but 80ish on the motorway (cruise control sometimes) and then 30-40 round town.Now...personally I have never been able to say good things about the GTI's mpg. Which on average was even less economical than my 3.2 TT. So the 335 didn't have a lot to beat. But I have been averaging 30mpg in the GTI. Combination of motorway, stop start traffic, town driving and traffic light hooliganism. As most of my driving is what I would consider the BMW's bread and butter....hundreds of motorway miles or higher speed A roads I can be assured I'll notice the difference. I have filled up tonight and put 50 litres in so will see how long that lasts and do a direct comparison. But I reckon I am going to be about 150 miles per tank better off. Call me stupid, but the time between fill ups is more important than the cost. I just can't be arsed with always filling cars up. THe GTI did 350 miles to a tank and for me that could mean filling up twice in a day. Which is just not practical for me...I wanna get to my destination, and then home without stopping. And I'm a weak man..so those 500 calorie Ginsters Sandwiches and Turkish Delights in service stations are just to hard to resist. Yum Yum. So this car could be good for my waist line too.Quote from: Steve_PD on 13 May 2009, 18:54Mint my next car will be one, only with two less doors Speak with R-Tech if 340bhp sounds good Yes....indeed. Various places seem to offer remaps. The elite seems to be DMS but they're a long way from me. However, 290 horses and 580nm of Torque isn't exactly needing to be tweaked. And based on the above, conscious of MPG. If I keep the car for a while (which is the plan) it could deffo be an option in 12 months or so.
