Airbag Warning Light
« on: 12 May 2009, 23:26 »
Anyone know if the airbag warning light staying on is an MOT failure? I've searched on here and found someone saying yes and someone else saying no.

I know that the ABS light remaining on is a failure, but luckily mine goes off after a couple of seconds.

By the way, I bought an ABS/Airbag warning light off ebay for my MK III 8v but the one I received wouldn't fit my car. The connectors are different on the back so I had to buy another one.

The original one I bought was part number 1H2 919 235 E, but the one I needed was 1H2 919 235 S.

They look identical apart from the pin layout on the back.

EDIT: Yes it is an MOT failure! IT will be on for a reason.

Can you get your car hooked up to Vag-Com?

Yes, I have vag-com myself but there are no error codes when I use it. Or is there some way of resetting the warning light?

The airbag light staying lit is not an MOT failure. The airbag system is not part of an MOT test.

However it is still a safety system. Not sure I would want to drive around with a faulty airbag system.

I didn't think it was a failure. Mine's on for a few second's then goes off.

sorry for caps lock but:

IT IS SUPPOSED TO COME ON WHEN YOU START THE CAR, IT TESTS ITSELF, THEN GOES OFF WHEN IT FINDS THE SYSTEM IS OK. JUST THE SAME AS THE ALL OF THE OTHER DASH LIGHTS DO.

Jesus, guy has said that several times already!!!!!

RANT OVER
