Hazard Switch Problem?

thats an odd one, id go with a new hazard switch in your case
maybe check the red/yel wire to pin 30 for permanaent 12v.  I wonder if you have a previous alarm install thats playin silly buggers?

Could be, there's been at least two alarms installed before the current 'simba' system, the siren is still a 'sigma', prob from an old system, and there's a couple of those touch thingy's in the switch blanks which are no longer used. I'll check it out over the weekend and get back if I find anything 'strange'.

sounds like my gti when i got it, 3 immobilisor/alarm systems stuffed up under dash, non worked

ok tried everything mentioned and we still got a issue?!?

gettin a bit confused as usual electrics are a strong point for me, im wondering as has been mentioned has someone mucked the wiring whilst doing the alarm previously but they were working wen i bought the car. so im discounted this as the problem?

my guess is they cut into the output from the hazard switch for the alarm, and something has gone wrong. follow all the wires from the hazard switch, and check fuse 4 and 19

Moving on from my earlier reponse to this, it seems odd I know, but you say your car's only just back on the road.......How is your battery?
My battery recently let me down & was zero rated by the RAC, I've put a new battery in and the hazard problem has gone completely. The hazards didn't even work with the engine running, I'm guessing that the battery was pulling all the current from the alternator. The cars been sitting inthe garage for 2 weeks now and I just went out & checked it again without starting it and the hazards still work fine..........Just a thought?

just a quick update, solved the problem for now! woo

stripped the dash down so i could trace all the cables, found the connection block which is located to the left of the steering column, had a quick fiddle (behave yourselfs) with the cables and hey presto, it works!

have noticed thou if the voltage drops below 11volts the hazards will not operate, im guessing as u said jezza that the battery is on way out.

Not too clever then if you are stuck on the side of the road with a flat battery and the hazards won't work.  0/10. VW go to the bottom of the class on that one!

i no could you imagine that lol, i think ill be upping the voltage a bit lol

takes a very flat battery for the voltage to drop that low, mine broke down a year ago and i had hazzards on for an hour no bother. was flat enough that car needed a jump to turn over on the starter, but hazzards worked away happily the whole time
