No idea what sort of lid I should get. Had a look on Demon tweaks etc but would like some pointers.

or go for a motorbike helmet? apparently some track day organisers can get funny with them but ive never heard of people getting turned away

Yeah I'd heard that as well. I only tracked the mini about 3 times before I had to sell it so I only ever hired lids and never got round to buying one.
I had a look on Piston Heads and a few folks run open faced helmets that cost about £50 so I may look into one of those to begin with. I can't see a full face one being essential for a tin top but certainly nice to have.

Demon Tweaks do a reasonable open face (Jet New Axis Helmet) for around £85 delivered, which I think I'm going to go for. These are also for sale on the 'bay, but it's whether you trust them to be 'new' or not.

open face = crash = mashed face.
A bike lid should be fine unless you are competing / racing.
