Brake upgrade quote....
« on: 06 August 2004, 18:55 »
from TSR (i think) is ?279...

kit includes black diamond combo discs (285mm), pagid pads and spacers for the calipers.

supposidly the discs are specially made to be the correct offset. I was told normal G60 ones are the wrong offset...

What does everyone reckon. They are proven to imporve braking by 100% i.e. twice as good).

Im tempted but it is rather steep....

Cant live with  the brakes like this much longer....

thats is very similar and ?100 cheaper...

wonder if its the same? I think the difference might be in the discs... TSR said theres were specially made from black diamond.

erm... i think ill go for the upgrade and see how the car copes.

the issue with the rear convo is that someone said it might affect the braking balance. personally i think that would only play a part if both rear and front had same size discs (and ie. the same stopping power) . im pretty sure the setup is designed to have larger braking emphasis on the front... i.e. discs more powerful than drums, and therefore large discs on front to std 239mm on back shouldnt affect the balance too much.... (thats my theory anyway)

am tempted by the rear axle in the parts for sale, but not sure how much linking up would be. not a diy person, so it would have to be done by a garage...

Have you spoken to C&R enterprises, they do upgrade kit - good price, but Steve there really knows if stuff and will explain how to do the upgrade as well even for the rear upgrade, he explained it to me today - I recorded it and will be trying it out later next month.

I had C&R do a brake upgrade on my cab last year. The service was good, and the result was great. The discs warped quite quickly though, however this is not a fault of C&R but possibly my braking or a bad set of discs.
I don't own this anymore - I just can't be arsed to change the picture
