Rain Problem

I am having a problem with my GTI at the moment. When it rains heavily i seem to be getting water into the car on the passangers side foot well. I have been told that it could be the sun roof drain that is blocked, But cant find that. Does any body have any suggestions.
Really need to sort it before winter.

I don't have a sunroof so can't comment on that, depending on the age of your car water can actually creep in through the top of the door seals. Being such lardy buggers the doors on our cars actually sag under their own weight over time, you can best see this by looking at the side rubbing strips on the outside and checking if they're misaligned from the doors to the rear quarter panel.
Mine has just started to do this, only the occasional drip but I'm looking into the best way to realign the doors, new pins possibly.

I had same problem but have not got sunroof. If your car is under warranty, then let the dealer adjust the door hinges and pressure / water test the door to ensure no leaking occurs. I did check the rubbers and found holes in the ribbe, but this is only to let the air out when the door is closed.
Door adjustment id the best option as have not had any more problems with leaking door so far - touch wood / plastic anything else that brings good luck!!!!!!!

I'll bet the problem is actually due to a cracked or mis-fitted pollen filter cover (part of the black scuttle panel under the windscreen). If this is not covering the filter properly then water will run down off the screen and through the heater assembly into the passenger side of the car's interior.

If it is a cracked  or misfitted pollen filter cover, Would that be enough to let in a good bit of water when it is raining. Cause it is lashing rain here, It is starting to annoy me.

yep, i had this with my mk3. and i had about an inch of water when it rained hard

You got it right, The Cover for the pollen filter had a crack in it, So it has been repaired with a new one already ordered. Now its time to start drying out the car.

We've neem suffering rain problems too, my Dads '99 1.8T now has a damp reat seatbelt? The rest of the interior seems fine, any ideas? btw. the car is a 3 door

Hey all,,,my 98 1.8t has same problem when it rains, you can see the water coming in from the bottom of the door, would new door pins sort this out,,cos the drivers side is fine??
