Squeaky brakes

At just 10,000 miles?? Surely not! Brake dust do you think? Something the garage will sort next service? Anyone else have this issue? Its not really bad but beginning to notice it more.....

TBH, mine are a little squeaky sometimes - when dry.
I dont hear it very often - just happens now and again, and seems to be when I am very lightly applying the brakes to come to a slow stop. Even then, the squek isnt very loud, but you can just hear it.
Oh, and Im only on 5,500 miles in my car!
Not sure if its a warranty job, since brakes/tyres etc arent usually covered by warranty.

Try doing a few hard slowdowns without coming to a dead stop from around 60mph. This should deglaze the pads if that's the problem.

Tried the aggresive stopping and it still has not stopped. Im on 28k and have had this problem since 15k.... just wont go away!

Hello all, you may remember a while back I had the same issue.

I still did up until last Monday when I went on a track day. My brakes are fine now, never squeaked since lol. For almost 6 months they did, no amount of hard braking or washing them down made it go away, it always came back. Since the track day, after a real good hammering I guess the problem is gone. I hope for good.

That's exactly it Ifti....coming to a slow stop.Oh well,at least I know its not just me.This was an issue on my Corrola,quite a common problem with that car apparently...garage were able to cure it. Cheers for responses!

Squeaky brakes seem to be a common problem with the R32 / GTI brakes, mine do now and again, not all the time mind.

iirc it is a problem with lots of asbestos free pads... I had the same problem, especially at low speed such as being in a traffic jam in town, with the 'genuine' pads fitted to my mk3 when I got it... the squealing was terrible... this was on new discs too

have you thought about fitting a shim behind the pad to stop it bouncing about so much?
