need to know if the cat can be removed or not

i think its around 92 same year as mk3 came out that the laws on exhaust emissions got tighter.

as far as im aware no where states you need a cat though  as long as it passes the emissions tests (which it is most likely not to without a cat)


so in short by law no but to pass mot yes :D

i live out in the country so no emissions  :evil: so i dont care about those. the question i have is do i have to have it for the car to run correctly

Yes you can remove the cat and as long as the lambda sensor (if fitted) is left in place it will run fine.

if its the o2 i can have it placed back after i decat then

its the sensor that is stuck in the exhaust just before the cat. if your handy with a welder just get a grinder n chop the exhaust just before the cat and weld a new section of tubing in..that's what i plan to do.

like Wayne says no running issues as long as sensors remain in place.

Yes lambda is also known as 02 sensor, as long as it is refitted it will run fine.
