Hi guys just considering doin a tranny rebuild + wondering where the best place to sourc parts from would be??
Im down south but anywhere in the uk would be good, googling has only found bearing kits??
Any help would be great

I've not managed to find anywhere elser yet, but then I've not been looking particularly hard. might be worth emailing broke:

he has some good sources for parts and may be able to find bits cheaper than the local dealer, even with postage from the states

yeah its mainley been his site that ive found all my info from but in his parts section sounds like most of them are becoming dicontinued+ there is the postage+ the pound is pretty weak ATM!
Oh well cheers for the help+ if you find ne thing else im always interested.
Are you considering a bit of tranny strippping or just got a dodgy box??

I have been thinking about going into the gearbox refurbin game, only prob is some of the tools required are a bit expensive, that plus as you say parts aint cheap!

i have a lathe+mill at work so hopefully i can make up any odd tools i need+ i know a guy with a press so hopefully i will be able to do it quite well??

should be good to go, main thing is you get the kit for checking the play in the bearings plus the preloads

thats just a dti for play + working out shim thicknesses+ torque wrench for checking turning torque is within spec, right?/

yeah you measure the play in the diff and output shaft, so you know what thickness the shims need to be. then after you fit the shims you measure the torque needed to keep the shaft moving, to make sure you got the shimming correct.
as in you ignore the force required to get the shaft started but note the lower torque value needed to keep them moving, if that makes sence
