« on: 05 May 2009, 22:20 »
im thinking about binning my 1.9td out of my mk2 but in these harsh times im not sure what to put back in it dont want turbo or vr6 but would like something with some nuts, i can swap looms and engines but i dont know about the insides so it would have to be a complete engine, dont know what engine codes are in what car, im only a mere joiner

Consider a Corrado G60 engine. Good swap, and very tunable, although I would also budget for a compressor overhaul.

You would also need to consider a brake up grade and a suspension up grade. The brakes would come free with a suitable donor Corrado G60.

Surely the only way to go from a 1.9TD would be up to a 1.9 TDi?

More power, more economy.

What's not to like?

(rev range).

mk2 diesels are fairly sought after at the moment, so you'd do better to sell yours and buy a mk2 that has already had an engine conversion.  Much cheaper.  Easier to make a fast car out of a car that is already fast.  Yours.....isn't fast.

What've you got out of the 1.9TD then?

You should be able to fetch 150-170bhp out of a TDi unit without too much trouble.

theres loads of potential in the old 1.9 tdis.  Was it Simon Cooper (white mk2?) that was getting 12 second 1/4s with the old diesel?
