Is this a Mk2 Engine?
« on: 04 May 2009, 19:15 »
Hi guys,

I bought a VW T25 camper today and the guy said the engine is a 1.9 Petrol from a vw mk2 golf, can anyone confirm this from the pic?

I know its not very clear but its all i have for now, i just want to know so i buy right parts for a service etc.

Also can anyone tell me the specific engine code by looking at it? or am i asking the world now lol

Thanks

hard to tell as the 8v's were used in a lot of vw's. but in the mk2 golf they came in 1.8, and had a plastic cambelt cover, that one looks metal?

plenty of 8v had metal cam blt covers.  odds on bet thats a K Jet 8v gti enigne.

that van once had a horribly gutless 1.6 D or TD  in i bet,  the gti lump more or less bolts up in it's place
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

Basically i only want a camper so me and gf can hit europe for 4 weeks this summer;)

Van was 2 grand, not bad nick but fair bit of cosmetic stuff. Just wanted to know the engine so parts etc are correct.

Is it stamped anywere on the engine itself?
