hi im up grading my brakes ive already got the bigger servo off a mk2 16v but i didnt get the master cylinder does any one no wot one i should get 4 ports (part numbers) and how much they would be and can u tell me wot else i might need and the other ting i need to no is i have 2 brake light switches on the original master cylinder thats on the car will both lights still work if i only use one switch

hi mate you want to get a brand new 22mm 16v master cylinder from either euro car parts or gsf i paid 40quid posted it doesn't matter about 2 or 4 outlets as you blank off whats not used
mine was a 4outlet, also you might want to check whether you brake light switch is on the pedal as mine was or on the outlet pipes  :wink:

cheers for that mate, my brake light switch is on the master cylinder could u give me a step by step indication on how i should fit the brake lines and brake light switches thanx ian

do a search mate or go to mk1golf.org

 and go to the braking faq it will give you all the info you need, take particular care with the cutting of the thread on the 16v servo as getting this wrong can cause serious issues with brakes binding etc

thanks for the link mate but do u no wot year mk2 16v i should get the servo for coz i phoned gsf this mornin and i asked for one off a 1989 ond and they said it was 25pound do u no the part nimber of the one i need thanx ian

any 1.8 MK2 carby/gti/16v golf has the servo you want, its a 9" one you're after :)

all years, doesnt matter what 1.8 mk2 it is, they all had 9" servo ;)
