« on: 04 May 2009, 08:47 »
bit of a wiered one:

ive got a guy interested in buying my '96 mk 3 golf vr6 brake setup, everything included:
(carriers, calipers, stud axles, new pads/disks)

he wants to fit it to his 2001 mk 4 golf v6 4 motion.

would the fit the newer generation golf?

any tips?

probly better off asking in the mk4 section (i would also guess the 4mo brakes will be better than a vr6's   :undecided:)

I think on a mk4 you can get a direct swap for 4pot brakes.

The VR6 brakes are still only 1 piston, and aint exactly amazing.

The standard brakes on a 4motion will be good enough, if you want to upgrade then go to the 4pot porsche 312mm brakes, or brembos. Will stop you faster than the ABS can keep up with. lol

i know its a down size in disc size and pistons, dont know why he wants to do it but can it be done?

i would of thought it was quite easy to do through just changing the calipers/carriers and poss modifying the brake lines......

any ideas

Do the brakes from a mk4 fit the mk3  :undecided:
If they do, then the brakes from the mk3 will fit the mk4. It would need the carriers, calipers, brake lines discs and pads.
Why he would want to do it is another question  :lipsrsealed:

Would be cheaper to just crash his car into a brick wall without doing the conversion.
