spacers.... hmmm
« on: 01 May 2009, 12:55 »
just got my FK spacers... there the ones with the low profile bolts that bolt onto your hubs, then you bolt the wheels onto the spacers...

sure you all know the type...

anyhoo, just bolted the spacer on, went to bolt my wheel on, and hey presto, the wheel nut is too long! shot down to local wheel place who were about as much help as a monkey with terets, an basically said nothing i can do.

anyone know where to get shorter bolts to suit the adapters from? or am i goin to have to take a grinder to all 12 bolts?

any advice much appreciated!

normally you buy the shorter bolts with the adaptors/spacers.  A machinist should be able to shortern your bolts for you.

I hope your spacers aren't aluminium...because the threads of your shorterned steel bolts will fill with ripped off soft aluminium and you won't then be able to bolt anything onto anything.  Been there.  Done that.  Won't ever both with porsche wheels again.

just been looking at them, and got the old box of wheel bolts, an there is one in tehre thats the right size, and i have a sneeky suspsion that its a VW one, so gonna pop down to ecp an see if they can get some in, an if not its a trip to gilders and get some from dealership... hmmm.

if not then i'll just get the grinding wheels out an do it myself, just cba to grind 12 bolts down. :D
