Upgrading Michelin Exalto

I've got the Exaltos on my GTI, which I've had a couple of months. Although I'm not unhappy with them, I wondered if I could improve grip on quick starts (especially in the damp) with any other tyre? Would the Eagle F1 be noticeably better, or is there not going to be much in it?

I'm not bothered if they wear faster and just want better grip if possible.

Also, as my Exaltos haven't worn that much, do tyre places let you keep them for use in the future, or for selling? Or are there rules about that?

You should be able to keep them - and save money as most places charge for disposal!

Im looking to replace both my fronts soon, and one of them is still quite new, so I may just keep that one just in case I ever hit a nail and need a spare etc.

Nevertheless, I may try Falken 452's - they seem to be recommended by a few people Ive spoken to and excellent value for the price.

I love the Michelin Exalto's on my Ed 30 .... but was a bit shocked when I asked at a local tyre place and was told £175 each to replace 

I will stick with them ...but unsurprisingly shop around !  At 9K miles I think I am 2/3rds through the life of the tyres ...

A lot of people swear by Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 225/40 R18 Y. Blackcircles are currently offering them at £117 a corner fitted!!

just a quick one to this really...anything else other than the goodyears to be recommended, as these wear far too quickly in my experience on every car i've had, and none have been as heavy as the mk5...

I heard that the pirella p-zero rossi are supposed to be quite good, but again the wear rating might affect the decision...someone else was saying Continental Sport contact 3's???

falken 452s are good tyre had them all round on my ctr held just as well as my mate's ctr with bridgestones on it and £75 a corner, bargain

yeah got it once ii'd typed...pilot sport 2's...seem like an average tyre when on the tyrereview.co.uk site...mixed bag with people rating them due to the wet traction really...goodyears are cheaper and wear is just a little more according to peeps reviews...have you run both?  If so which for wet and dry conditions, considering the wear factor???
